The No Good Crowd began making music in Philadelphia during 2023. Despite the absurdity of dudes making indie rock (vs indie pop, bedroom pop, chill wave, or whatever passes for cool) these days, from the first shows in summer 2023 you could hear a new sound coming together - with influences melding bits of jingle jangle plus garage, punk, and Americana. Getting real and getting physical following their first shows with a 7-inch debut 45 on Manic Pop Thrill Records, now The No Good Crowd has arrived with the start of the new year. And as the song says, "Don't say our story's already been told / I'd take any misadventure of old / and a chance we can get back - to Some Kinda Gold"
Guitarists Jamie Olson and Jim McGuinn have their own history that goes back to Philly's '00s indie rockers Cordalene, with Jamie forming the Midnight Singers afterward, where he was joined by drummer and man about town Neil Simpkins. Later Jamie formed the rootsier Atlantic Coast Ramblers with bassist Brendan Skwire, while Jim moved to Minnesota, where he learned to play hockey, but also played music with Saint Small, The People Between, and BNLX. Reunited in Philly, and putting it all together now it's The No Good Crowd. And that's very good, not no good at all.
