You know those nights when everything just clicks—the pints flowing, the stage humming, the music grinning at you like an old friend? That’s the spark behind The No Good Crowd. Even in an era of bedroom pop and chillwave, these four Philly lifers forged a genre-blending mix of garage, power pop, jangle, punk, and Americana from their very first shows together.

Guitarists Jamie Olson and Jim McGuinn go back to Philly’s semi-beloved Cordalene (2000–2005). After the split Jamie led the rootsy Midnight Singers with local legend Neil Simpkins on drums and later the Atlantic Coast Ramblers with bassist Brendan Skwire. McGuinn spent a decade in Minnesota with Saint Small and BNLX before returning to Philly in 2023 to reunite with Olson—and The No Good Crowd was born.

Their two 45s on Manic Pop Thrill Records deliver classic power pop driven by raw garage punch, with guests Adam Weiner (Low Cut Connie) and Emm Gryner (David Bowie) adding piano and vocals. As they sing, “It’s All Right Now / Searching for the Flutter and Wow” — and yeah, it’s only rock and roll, but it’s what brings people together.

With a full-length in the works and shows around town, they invite friends, neighbors and all to join the crowd. And that’s good, indeed.
